I just wanted you to know that.
I liked Tarrlok's looks and sneaky attitude the moment he was properly introduced into the series. Sure, the way he forced Korra to join his task force was darn cruel (but still pretty predictable, one easily saw it coming when the party invitation was brought up) but at least he worked alongside her instead of being just a typical cliche douchebag politician who stays in the sidelines. I got pretty pissed at him for beating the tar out of Korra and kidnapping her and I hoped that she would return the favour by giving him some good ass whooping... but then Amon happened. I was kinda upset that Tarrlok's badass (blood)bending skills were taken away but I still hoped that his character could be redeemed somehow... and it happened alright, but not in the way I was expecting. While I'm content with his story overall, I'm not happy about how it ended, not happy at all...
I can still understand that the plot was written so that the series could have all its main problems solved within those 12 episodes (nick ordered more seasons way after the staff had finished making the plot and started animating this thing)... I can still understand that Noatak had to be killed or at least incapacitated so that this could be accomplished... And I can even understand the writers' desire to surprise the audience by making Noatak's defeat something more memorable and unique than the usual "The main heroine kills him."... But did they really have to make Tarrlok kill them both?! I can't help but wonder if Tarrlok's fate could have been different had the Nickolodeon ordered the follow up seasons RIGHT AWAY instead of just these 12 episodes? That way the writers could have actually left some loose ends plot-wise and Amon's immediate demise wouldn't have been so necessary... Maybe it could have been achieved differently without killing Tarrlok in the process. All I can hope now is that he somehow survived that explosion but seeing how the next series is going to take place in spirit world, I doubt that they're gonna bring him back for the show
